As an AltruIT Engineer, Allen gets to work with clients directly and also makes sure the “behind the scenes” technical components run smoothly. Allen assists clients with everything from password resets, hunting down lost files and printers, to troubleshooting complex technical issues. Other days, he spends time keeping the servers up and running and implementing new hardware and software to make room for future programs.

Allen began his career in sales for a well-known computer retailer, working his way up through the professional ranks. Anytime things slowed down, he took the time to increase his knowledge through education. Allen has experience in everything from retail to customer service/support and system building and integration. He joined AltruIT in 2006 and has loved being part of the team ever since because of the daily challenges that “keep him on his toes” and growing professionally with the support of committed, intelligent coworkers.

As much as he loves reading and playing around on the computer, Allen still enjoys “non-techy” pursuits such as rock climbing, white water rafting, snowboarding and skiing. His love for athletics once had him in the running for the rowing team that ended up going to the Barcelona Olympics although he wasn’t able to attend the tryouts.  Thankfully, he’s been able to strike a balance between his job and his love for the outdoors.

Alyssa acts as an intermediary between the AltruIT Helpdesk and the Engineering Department. She takes calls, works with clients to troubleshoot their technical problems and creates tickets for complex issues. Whenever possible, she actively expands her technical knowledge by working on Engineering Department issues and stepping in to provide second-level support as needed.

Alyssa’s background is in music, retail management and IT office administration. Her experience in customer service prepared her well to transition to a career in Information Technology with AltruIT. She loves working with clients to help them find a solution for issues that have been hindering their work and causing them frustration. As the newest member of the AltruIT team, Alyssa has enjoyed getting to know her coworkers and experiencing the unique AltruIT office culture. In her words, “everyone should get to have this much fun at work!!”

When not at the office, Alyssa stays active by running and swing dancing. She is also studying for her certification exams to improve her IT knowledge and service delivery. Between her work and recreation, she still finds time to relax and enjoy a good book or movie.

As CEO, Barbara leads the AltruIT team in its mission to provide high quality, affordable IT solutions to non-profit and government agencies in the Human Services sector.  She is strongly committed to supporting the hard work of case management by providing technology tools that help social workers spend more time with their clients and less time in the office. Barbara’s background is in Account Management and Marketing in the Network Services business. She spent more than 18 years with AT&T, where she worked with clients to develop and implement solutions.  Barbara left the private sector to join Aspiranet, a      nonprofit agency supporting foster children, siblings, and families in California, and was  instrumental in the founding of AltruIT in 2003. In her free time, Barbara can probably be found with one of her five grandsons doing things like ATV riding, camping, skateboarding and skiing.  You might also find her hanging out at the beach, relaxing!

Barry manages the AltruIT help desk and engineering teams. He enjoys working closely with the staff of AltruIT’s main client, Aspiranet, who are all wonderful people and need IT support in their work on behalf of youth and families.

Barry has worked in a variety of roles in his 30 professional years in the Information Technology industry, including technician, programmer, systems administrator, network engineer and manager. He attended Occidental College to receive a Bachelor’s of Art in Mathematics. Barry is also certified in many operating systems and devices, including Microsoft, Novell, Linux servers and Cisco networking equipment.

Barry also works as a dance instructor with Pasadena Ballroom Dance Association. He teaches several styles of dance, including Lindy Hop (his favorite), Jitterbug, West Coast Swing, Foxtrot and Country 2-step. Barry’s dance partner is his wife and they are two-time world champions on the country-western competition circuit in the teams category.

In whatever free time he has left, Barry likes to garden, homebrew, hike and play with his five cats.

Joe develops and maintains software and reports that help AltruIT clients manage their cases for various child and family-based programs and services. Joe also manages the mileage tracking system Aspiranet employees use to record their mileage, parking/tolls, and vehicle usage for reimbursement purposes. A software developer for most of his career, Joe has served as a programmer, analyst, technical writer, project manager and even a journalist over the last two decades. Joe joined AltruIT at its formation in 2003 and served as a contractor for Aspiranet for three years prior to that. Joe is a musician and once pursued music semi-professionally.

Kevin’s specialty as a Business Analyst for AltruIT lies in the design and development of web solutions. He focuses on integrating IT systems with business processes to increase communication and collaboration, collect data and help people speak to their audience in meaningful ways. Kevin’s work with AltruIT centers around the following technologies: SharePoint, Salesforce, Mobile Epiphany and websites. Kevin is currently pursuing his Masters in Art at Pepperdine University, studying Organizational Communication. He received his Bachelor’s of Art from San Francisco State University in Speech and Communication Studies.  

Mark coordinates the AltruIT helpdesk activities, resolving whatever he can and escalating those issues that require further attention. Mark joined AltruIT in July 2003, bringing a background of 15 years in customer service-related positions. Mark enjoys working with his AltruIT coworkers, considering them friends and colleagues. Each of them is very knowledgeable of his/her field, but is also humble and fun to be around. Mark spent his early adult life as a professional musician, touring and recording. He was able to see a large part of the world in those travels and continues to play drums locally. He also (sort of) plays golf when he has the opportunity.
